Day 01 Arrival at Paro Airport
Fly on the wings of a Dragon to the international airport in Paro, Bhutan. On a clear day, the panoramic views of the Himalayas are sensational, including Mt. Everest (if you are flying from Delhi and Kathmandu), but particularly exciting is the approach through the Bhutanese foothills and the landing, including a few steep, turn to land at the tiny airstrip of Paro. On arrival in Paro, you will be received by the Tour Bhutan team by offering welcome scarfs and transferred to Thimphu by private vehicle.
Depending on your arrival time, we can proceed for the city sightseeing or relax in the hotel. If time permits, visit the weekend market (Thu-Sun). Vegetable vendors from different pockets of the country come to sell their products. In the evening we will explore the city by walking or visiting Tashichho Dzong, which houses the throne room of His Majesty the King. Overnight in Thimphu, altitude 2400m.
Day 02 Thimphu to Punakha
Drive to Punakha via Dochula pass. If the weather is clear, we stop for a while at Dochula pass to view Higher Himalayas. On the way, visit Chime Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley. He subdued the demons with his “ Magical Thunder bolt”. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”. Lunch at Punakha.
After lunch, visit Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal and situated between Pho Chu (Male river) and Mo Chu (Female river).
Day 03 Punakha to Haa
Haa valley is located in the western part of Bhutan close to the only international airport. The valley is surrounded by rich natural biodiversity while its age old living traditionhas been preserved since time immorial. Visit this pristine village and over night at Hotel.
Day 04 Haa to Paro
Haa to Paro is 3 hour drive passing the highest road point of chelela pass(4200M). Today we shall hike down the beautiful Kiligoenpa trail. The hike is about 2 hours from the starting point. Evening visits Paro farmhouse and enjoys the local wine and meals prepared by the host. Overnight at Hotel
Day 05 Paro to Onward Journey
Your 5 Days tour of Bhutan ends today with our guide seeing you off to the airport.
