9 Days Bhutan Group Tour Detail Program

Day 01 Arrival Paro Airport

Arrival at Paro Airport. Visit the tamchog temple on the way towards Thimphu. Spend some time at Chuzom confluence and witness the locals doing business at the bridge. Further drive towards Thimphu. Upon checking into Hotel you will be given some time for relaxation. In the evning stroll Thimphu town. You will come across Cafe, Night Club and shopping centre. Over night at Hotel.

Day 02 Thimphu Tour

Thimphu Tour begins with a visit to the 13th arts and crafts school where 13th skills of crafting is being practised. When you visit the student will be working on their skills and you are not allowed to disturb them. After that visit folk heritage museam just 5 minutes walk from the School. The local guide at museam will assist you and explian the existence of museam. In the afternoon visit Textile museam and Trashichhodzong. Over night at Hotel.

Day 03 Thimphu to Punakha (72 Kms, 3 hours drive).

Punakha Tour. Punakha is the old capital of Bhutan. If the weather is clear, we stop for a while at Dochula pass to view Higher Himalayas. On the way, stop a while to view Chimi Lhakhang, which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley in the the15th century. He subdued the demons with his “Magical Thunder bolt”. The Temple is also known as “the Temple of Fertility”.

Day 04 Punakha to Gangtey

Gangtey Tour. While in Gangtey, visit Gangtey Gompa. Gyaltse Pema Thinley, the grandson and mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa founded the Temple in 1613, and Tenzin Legpai Dhendup, the second re-incarnation, built the temple. The present Abbot, Kunzang Pema Namgyal is the ninth re-incarnation. It is a Nyingmapa monastery and is affiliated with other Nyingmapa monasteries including Tamshing in Bumthang. Explore Phobjikha valley, famous for the Black Necked Cranes during winter. Packed lunch will be served at Gangtey. Over Night at Hotel Dewachen.

Day 05 Gangtey to Paro

Start the Journey early and proceed to Gangtey.

After Lunch, visit Ta Dzong (built in1656 and renovated in 1968), an ancient watchtower, which now houses the National Museum. Below the museum is the Paro Rimpung Dzong (literally meaning “Heap of Jewels”, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the centre of civil and religious authority in this valley. A short walk takes you to the base of the dzong and across a traditional cantilevered, covered bridge. Dinner and over night in Hotel.

Day 06 Paro to Haa

After early breakfats drive to Haa. Haa is 2.5 hours drive from Paro via Chelela pass(4200M). On the way visit chelela pass and upon reaching haa, explore the town of Haa. In the evening at Uguen Farm house with Hotstone bath and local wine tasting.

Day 07 Haa to Paro

Drive to Paro and after lunch drive to Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647 by the Great Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, father and unifier of medieval Bhutan, the dzong was destroyed by accidental fire and left in ruins as an evocative reminder of the great victories it was built to commemorate. Explore the ramparts and on a clear day experience an unforgettable view of Mt. Jhomolhari (7,314 m). On the way back, visit Kichu Lhakhang, built-in 659 A.D by the Tibetan king Srongsen Gampo. This Monastery is one of the 108 monasteries built across the Himalayan region by the Tibetan King to subdue the Demoness that lay across the Himalayan region. The rest of the monasteries lie in other neighboring countries. If time permit visit Dungtse Lhakhang 3 storeyed temple in Paro. Dinner and overnight in Hotel.

Day 08 Paro Tour

Tiger Nest Temple Hike. A very special day, with an excursion to view the spectacular Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery – After breakfast a short drive takes us to Satsam Chorten, from there a 2 hour horse ride till the viewpoint point of the monastery. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. We stop for a rest and light refreshments at the Taktsang Jakhang (cafeteria) and then walk a short distance until we see, clearly and seemingly within reach, Taktsang monastery. The primary Lhakhang was built around Guru Rimpoche’s meditation cave in 1684by the Penlop of Paro Gyaltsen Tenzin Rabgay, this incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava, the tantric mystic who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, flew here on the back of a flying tiger, Dorji Drolo, said to be his favorite consort. In the afternoon enjoy your remianing day at Farm House with Hotstone bath and local wine.
