Paro Spring festival Tour

Domkar Festival in Chumey valley in Bumthang district was established by lam Kuenkhen Longchen Rabjham in the 16th century. Longchen Rabjham (1308-63), a pre-eminent scholar of Dranang, Tibet was reversed as the great redactor and demographer of Nyingma teaching. He promoted the special teaching of Dzongpo Chenpo(great perfection). Towards the end of his life, he founded eight monasteries throughout the Country. The festival is observed every year in Spring at Domkhar Village temple in Bumthang. The date may differ as per the Bhutanese calender every year.

Detail Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival at Paro and Drive to Thimphu

Flights to Paro Bhutan is one of the most amazing and thrilling experiences. Only few pilots are trained to land at Paro airport. Upon arrival our team will receive you at the airport and drive you to Thimphu.

Day 02 Thimphu to Punakha

After early breakfast drive to Punakha. Punakha is 2 hours drive from Thimphu. Punakha is beautiful valley and warmer than Thimphu and Paro. The best places to visit in Punakha is Punakha Dzong located beaitifuly between Pho Chu and Mo Chu river. Chimi Lhakhang also called temple of fertility and Longest suspension bridge. Over night at Hotel. 

Day 03 Punakha to Bumthang (217 Km and takes about 7 Hours).

Punakha to Bumthang is 7 hours Journey through winding roads of eastern Bhutan. As you drive from Punakha the altitude increases and the weather becomes much colder. On the way, we visit Trongsa Dzong one of the magnificent Dzong in eastern Bhutan. The dzong plays a vital role in the history of Bhutan. The annual festival at Trongsa takes place in the Dzong and this year it is scheduled from 31st December to 3rd January 2023.

After lunch, we proceed to Bumthang and take a rest after checking into the Hotel.

Day 04 Bumthang to Chumey and attend Domkar Festival

Drive to Chumey and attend Domkar festival. The festival showcase the mask dance performed by local monk residing in the monastery, dance performed by the locals to entertain the public and followed by the unfurling of Thangka for the blessing. Over night at Hotel

Day 05 Bumthang to Paro via domestic flight

Batpalathng is 15 minutes drive from Hotel. It is 25 minutes flight from Bumthang to Paro. If you visit Bumthang it is always adviceable to take one way flight to experience both land and air journey. Upon arrival at Paro our team will take you for Paro city tour. Visit Drugyel Dzong and on the way back oldest Kichu monastery. Over night at Hotel.

Day 06 Paro tiger nest Hike

Today is a very special day. 10 minutes drive to Taktsang base camp and from where our hike starts. You can either take a pony ride or walk. The pony will cost you Nu.700 if you feel that you cannot walk or else we advise for a hike. Upon reaching the cafeteria we shall take a rest for tea. The cafe offers a wonderful view of the monastery. There is also a small waterfall before reaching the monastery. You can take the best photoshoot upon reaching the viewpoint. In the afternoon visit Paro Dzong, Taa Dzong(only museum), and in the evening stroll around Paro town.

Day 07 Paro to Airport and See Off

Bhutan Festival Tour ends here. Our team will escort you to the airport and see you off.
