Travel to Bhutan from Slovakia
Travel to Bhutan from Slovakia
Travelling to Bhutan from Slovakia involves three main steps: visa, flights, and tour arrangement.
✈️ 1. Flights (No direct route)
There are no direct flights from Slovakia to Bhutan. You must travel via major hubs:
Typical route:
- Bratislava/Vienna → Istanbul / Delhi / Bangkok / Kathmandu
- Then fly to Paro (Bhutan’s only international airport)
Only two airlines fly into Paro:
- Druk Air
- Bhutan Airlines
Total travel time: 15–25 hours, depending on layovers
🛂 2. Visa process
- Slovak citizens must obtain a visa before arrival
- You cannot apply independently—it must be arranged through a licensed Bhutanese tour operator
- You receive a visa clearance letter, and the visa is stamped on arrival
🧳 3. Mandatory tour booking
Bhutan has a controlled tourism policy:
- You must book a pre-arranged package (hotel, guide, transport)
- Pay a Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) (daily fee)
This is usually handled by your tour operator
📍 4. Entry point
- Main airport: Paro International Airport
- Alternative (less common): enter by land via India border
✅ Summary
From Slovakia → transit city → Paro (Bhutan), with:
- Pre-arranged visa
- Booked tour package
- Flights via Asian hubs
