In this trek of Bhutan we will take you through an adventures hike, visiting numerous places although the trek is only for a short period of time.  This Trek in Bhutan is easy and short but there are some long steep climbs as well. Khoma (near Thimphu) will be the starting point for the trek and it will end at Simtokha (Thimphu). Highest point of the trek is 4300 meters.

Itinerary

As you arrive at Paro airport, you will be received by our representative and you will be transferred to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Paro.

After breakfast, drive to Thimphu and Hike the recently opened Takin trail to prepare you for the next day’s trek. Afternoon visits the famous memorial chorten followed by the largest Buddha statue overlooking Thimphu valley. In the evening visit the oldest Simtokha Dzong in Bhutan. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.

The adventure commences in the charming capital city of Thimphu, where you will depart for Genekha Village, the starting point of the Dagala Thousand Lake Trek. This scenic drive sets the tone for the trek, offering glimpses of the captivating Bhutanese countryside. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by the serene ambiance and warm hospitality of the village.

As the sun peeks over the horizon, it’s time to lace up your hiking boots and embark on your first day of trekking. Afterward, descend to Thimphu, where you can relish the comfort of modern amenities while reminiscing about your extraordinary expedition.

(72 Kms, 3 hours’ drive). After breakfast, Drive to Wangdi via Dochula pass. We stop for a while at Dochula to view the magnificent Himalayas. While in Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal situated between Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River).

For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. There was a smaller building here called Dzong Chu (Small Dzong) that housed the statue of Buddha. It is said that Zhabdrung ordered the architect, “Zowe Palep,” to sleep in front of the statue, while Palep was sleeping, Zhabdrung took him to Zangtopelri and showed him the palace of Guru Rimpoche in his dreams.

From his vision, the architect conceived the design for the new Dzong, which was never committed to paper. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness).

The war materials captured during the battle with Tibetans are preserved here. Punakha is still the winter residence for his holiness the Je-Khenpo. Visit Chimi Lhakhang, also called the “Temple of Fertility” built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, popularly known as the “Devine Mad man” during the 15th century. Dinner and Overnight in the Hotel.

After breakfast, head towards Thimphu. Than drive to Buddha Point to visit one of the largest Buddha Statue overlooking the Thimphu valley. The drive will take you uphill where you can view the whole Thimphu city. Lunch in Thimphu and drive to Paro. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Paro.

Day 11 :
Departure

Breakfast in the hotel, then drive to the airport for flight to your onward destination.
