Gangjula Trek in Bhutan is new trekking route introduced recently in Bhutan. It is one of the scenic and most amazing trek in central Bhutan starts from Central Bhutan.

This is the remote trekking in Bhutan. It is part of Snowman trek starting from Woche and ending at Gangjula. Trekking in Himalayas, which was conceived and promoted has caught the imagination of people from all walks of life- artist, writers, poets and scientist. The himalayan provides unique opportunities for hikers, trekkers, mountaineers, skiers and naturalists.

Itinerary

Arrival at Paro International Airport. Our team from Tour Bhutan will receive you with a white khaddar to wish you a memorable trip to Bhutan. You will be briefed about trekking.

Trek the Popular Tiger Nest temple. The trek takes about 3 hours uphill hike from the base camp. Upon reaching the base camp you will find many small shops selling souvenirs and foods. If you feel like spending some time we can always take time off and spend time with locals. The hike is beautiful with almost 7 Km in distance. Explore the temple and return back to Hotel for relaxation.

Helicopter tour for Gangjula trek. Our guide will escosrt you to Paro aiprot from where you will board the helicopter and start the journey to Laya village. The ride takes about 25 minutes from Paro airport to Laya village.

Explore Laya Village. Explore the area, spend time with locals leaders, students and village people.Laya, nestled in the northern Himalayas of Bhutan, charms with its picturesque beauty. This remote village offers a unique cultural experience with its distinctive lifestyle and colorful festivals. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, Laya captivates visitors with its traditional architecture and the warm hospitality of its friendly inhabitants.

Trek Starts. The Woche village is the first settlement reached after Laya. Woche forms the traditional boundary between the highlands of Laya and Lunana.

Woche – Lhedi: The Trek starts through juniper and fir forests and then through rhododendron bushes. We climb up to Keche la Pass (4,480m) where one can have a great view of the mountains. After the pass, descend to the river walking through the village with stunning views of Table Mountain and others. Follow the river, one of the main sources of Phochu, to Lhedi village. Altitude 3,650m.

Thanza: The trek continues following the river, rising gradually to Choejong village. After lunch visit the Choejong dzong and continue towards the wide valley. Cross the bridge to reach Thanza camp 4,000m. Walking time is 7/8 hours.

The Thanja to Gangjula Trek is a breathtaking adventure that takes you through some of the most scenic and remote regions of the world. Starting from the village of Thanja, nestled amidst lush greenery and terraced fields, the trek kicks off with a moderate ascent through dense forests and picturesque meadows.

One of the highlights of the trek is the serene Gangjula Pass, located at an impressive altitude. Standing at the top, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges, an experience that’s truly awe-inspiring.

The journey continues through high-altitude meadows adorned with colorful wildflowers during the summer months. If you’re lucky, you might spot some rare Himalayan wildlife, adding a touch of excitement to the trek.

As you make your way towards Gangjula, the terrain becomes more challenging, but the thrill of conquering the past and witnessing the untouched beauty of the region motivates you to push forward.

Explore Gangjula Pass. The Thanja to Gangjula Trek is not for the faint of heart, as it demands physical endurance and a love for nature’s raw beauty. However, the memories of this unforgettable journey will stay with you for a lifetime, and the sense of accomplishment after completing the trek is indescribable.

Begin the Trek back to Thanja Village. the trek is about 7 to 8 hours depending upon the fitness of the clients. Upon reaching the Thanja village we camp here. We go around the village.

The next day our trekking begins from Thanja to the beautiful village of Woche. Woche is a remote village in Gasa and hardly people visit due to the high terrain and difficult route. Only the locals can survive in these difficult places. The trek takes about 6 to 7 hours from Thanza to Woche. You may come across a few trekkers on the way.

The day begins with a heavy breakfast and an early start of the trek. Woche has traditionally been the dividing line between the districts of Laya and Lunana. Upon reaching Laya camp nearby the School. The campsite is very near to the School and government offices. You can walk around the village and converse with locals. many young generation can speak good English in this remote village also.

Upon completing the heavy breakfast our most exciting day begins. Our helicopter ride will be ready to take you to the Thimphu base. The ride takes through regions of Gasa, Lunanan village and many prominent figures like Tashichhodzong, gasa dzong and finally to Thimphu. Relax day at Thimphu.

Our local sightseeing starts today in the capital city. Thimphu is the most crowded city in Bhutan with about 90000 living in the area. We begin our day by visiting the 13th arts and craft school where students from different parts of Bhutan showcase their arts and crafts skills. There are 13 skills taught in the school. Afternoon visit folk heritage museam followed by memorial chorten built in honor of 3rd King of Bhutan.

Visit the old capital of Bhutan. Punakha is a 3-hour leisure drive from Thimphu. On the way visit Dochula Pass and lamperi Botanical garden. Over night at Hotel

Gangtey is the wonderland of Western Bhutan. It’s the habitat and breeding ground for rare black-necked cranes. The vast plain land area and marshy land make the area conducive for Crane to breed.

Drive to Paro from Gangtye. The drive takes about 6 hours.

Your 17 days trekking and Helicopter ride tour ends here. You will be escorted to airport and seen off.
