Festival in Tashigang. Dance and music play a very important role in the cultural life of Bhutanese people. Each village and community have a rich tradition of dance that marks the passing of the season, communal occasion, and shared experience.  The festival in Trashigang is performed in the winter months. The festival takes place at Trashigang Dzong and many locals gather in the Dzong to attend the festival. This is an excellent time to mingle with the eastern people of Bhutan. The festival begins with a Mask dance that represents eight manifestations of Guru, a local secular dance by the village community followed Archery match. The festival is the largest in Eastern Bhutan. If time permits you can also visit National weaving centre where they make the best of Bhutanese Gho and Kira.

Itinerary

Arrival at Guwahati Airport and drive to Samdrupjongkhar. The drive takes about 3 hours from airport to samdrupjonhkhar through the plain of India. Our team will assist you to exit Indian Visa and Bhutan Visa to enter Bhutan.

Tashigang is the largest district in Bhutan and densely populated and may be considered the hinterland of the landlocked Kingdom. It is a region of deep valleys where fields and human habitat appear glued to the base of the mountains slopes. Maize is the main crops here but rice and wheat is also grown. On the way you can see mithun a native bull. Houses generally conform to the Bhutanese style but there are many bamboo matting house that are raised on the stilts. Eastern People are very friendly and welcoming. They begin their day with local wine and spend the whole day with local wine and rest with local wine. If you see any people drunk while on the way, that is normal. In the evening walk around the Tashigang town and relax at Hotel.

Attend the Tashigang festival held in the courtyard of Tashigang Dzong. The festival comes with many cultural and religious programs. It begins marching ceremony to mark the day followed by mask dance and secular dance performed by the village girls. There is also dance performed by the tribal people of Merak and Sakteng the mountain resident of Tashigang. We will spend our day witnessing the event and drive back to Hotel.

Drive to Yonphula Airport. The airport is recently built and hardly used due to the poor flow of tourists in eastern Bhutan. It is 24 Km and takes about 1-hour to drive from Trashigang. Fly to Paro airport. It takes about 45 minutes flight from Yonphula to Paro International Airport. Upon reaching the Airport our team will assist you and drive you to Drugyel Dzong for sightseeing. On a clear day you can view the amazing Jomolhari Mountain. On the way back visit Kichu Lhakhang. Over night at Hotel

Drive to Thimphu from Paro. Visit Thimphu city, walk around the town, visit Cafe and restaurant. In the afternoon visit Library, the library contains the oldest holy book. Visit Fold heritage museam and 13th arts and crafts school.

Punakha is the temperate fertile valley in the western Bhutan. the valley produces sufficient rice and fruits. It is also the old capital city of Bhutan till 1963. Punakha Dzong plays the vital role in the hostroy of Bhutan becuse first King of Bhutan was crowned here inside the Dzong in 1907. Visit the dzongs and discover the architects of it. In the afternoon visit the longest suspension bridge that connects villages with Punakha Dzong. Over night at Hotel.

Today we start our journey early. Paro is about 3.5 hours drive from Punakha. The route takes through Thimphu via Chudzom. We shall have our lunch at Thimphu and drive to Paro. In Paro visit the Para Taa Dzong only museam in Bhutan followed by cantilever bridge and Paro Rinpung dzong. In the evening visit Tshering farm House where you will have Hot Stone bath experience with local wine. Over night at Hotel.

Tashigang Festival tour ends here today. The festival journey of the east is one of the remote and long duration tour. We shorten it by taking domestic flight from Yonphula which shorten our journey by 3 to 4 days. You can also take this journey via roads if you have time and money. Our team will assist you and see you off at Airport.
