Prakhar Duchhoed-Bumthang(27th to 29th October, 2026)

Upon arrival at Paro Airport, take time to acclimatize by hydrating, resting, and engaging in light activities such as exploring Paro Dzong built in 1646 under the leadership of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the unifier of Bhutan and Ta Dzong built in 1649 to protect the undefended dzong and renovated in 1968 to house the National Museum or enjoying a leisurely walk in the town to adapt to the altitude.

Take a domestic flight from Paro to Bumthang (Bathpalathang Airport). Once you arrive, your guide will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, take the rest of the day to relax and enjoy the quiet atmosphere of Bumthang.

Today we will attend Prakhar Duchhoed festival for the whole day and get to know more about their unique culture and tradition. Witness vibrant mask dances and cultural program by the residents of Chumey. In the afternoon, stroll around the festival grounds, interact with locals, and learn about Lama Thukse Dawa. In the evening, unwind with a traditional hot stone bath. Dinner and overnight at hotel.

Explore the spiritual heart of Bumthang today. Start the day with the visit to Mebar Tsho and then visit Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang, and Tamshing Lhakhang, all important temples. Learn about the history and culture of the region. If time permits, visit the Swiss Cheese Factory or enjoy locally brewed beer at the Red Panda Brewery. Overnight and dinner in hotel.

After breakfast, drive to Gangtey, passing through Pele La and Yotong La mountain passes. These areas offer stunning views of Bhutan’s countryside. Upon arrival, explore the peaceful Phobjikha Valley and visit Gangtey Goemba, a monastery perched above the valley. Enjoy a nature walk through the valley, which is home to endangered black-necked cranes during winter. Overnight in hotel.

Drive from Gangtey to Punakha, a journey that offers scenic beauty along the way. In Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong, an architectural marvel located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. Then, take a short hike to Chimi Lhakhang, a fertility temple with fascinating legends and spiritual significance.

Drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, and enjoy the scenic route. Once in Thimphu, visit the iconic Buddha Dordenma statue, which offers panoramic views of the valley. Explore the Memorial Chorten and the Folk Heritage Museum. End the day with a visit to Tashichho Dzong, a majestic fortress housing both administrative offices and the monastic body.In the evening, take a leisurely stroll down to the Craft Bazaar in Thimphu. This lively marketplace offers a variety of Bhutanese handicrafts, including traditional thangka paintings, handwoven textiles, wooden carvings, and unique jewelry. It's the perfect spot to shop for souvenirs and gifts while immersing yourself in the local culture. Over night at Hotel.

Spend the day exploring Thimphu’s cultural treasures. Visit the National Library, which houses ancient Buddhist manuscripts, and the Royal Textile Academy, where you can see traditional Bhutanese textiles. Explore Changangkha Lhakhang, a temple that offers stunning views of the valley. If time allows, visit the Weekend Market for a taste of local life.

Drive from Thimphu to Paro and embark on the famous hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest). This cliffside monastery is one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks, offering incredible views of Paro Valley. After your hike, return to Paro and spend your day exploring the town. Wander through the charming streets, visit local shops, and browse for unique Bhutanese souvenirs such as handwoven textiles, traditional jewelry, and carved wooden artifacts and enjoy the serene atmosphere of Paro.
