This 10-day pilgrimage tour of Bhutan takes you on a spiritual journey through sacred Buddhist sites across Thimphu, Punakha, Wangdue, Trongsa, Bumthang, and Paro. Many of these revered locations were visited by Guru Rinpoche and other great saints centuries ago. The itinerary also includes visits to important cultural landmarks and scenic hikes to temples and monasteries, offering a deep insight into Bhutan’s spiritual heritage.

Day 1 :

Arrival at Paro and Transfer to Thimphu | Distance 49.8 km | Driving time 1hr | Altitude 2300m

Upon arrival at Paro, receive a warm welcome with a traditional white scarf from our guide and driver. After introductions, start your journey to Thimphu, stopping to visit Tachog Lhakhang, built by Drupthob Thangtong Gyalpo in 1420. In Thimphu, visit Buddha Point and the Memorial Chorten. If time allows, explore Tashichho Dzong. Overnight at the hotel. You can also attend Thimphu Festival.

Day 2 :

Thimphu to Bumthang via Dochula | Distance 263.6 km | Driving time 7 hr 15 min | Altitude 2800m

Today is a long journey, and we start early via Punakha, the old Capital of Bhutan. After 5 hours of driving through winding roads via Wangdi Dzong, we reach Trongsa. Lunch will be served at Willing Resorts, a waterfall resort. After lunch, 3 hours drive to Bumthang. Check in to your hotel and rest after the long journey.

Day 3 :

Bumthang Pilgrimage Tour - Day 1 | Altitude 2800m

We shall start late today. The day starts with a visit to Mebar Tsho also called Burning Lake, located about 30 minutes from the main town, and explore the lake until afternoon. After lunch at Swiss Guest House Restaurant, visit Kurjey Lhakhang, the final resting place of Bhutan’s first three kings. A large tree behind the temple is believed to be a terma (treasure) left by Padmasambhava. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4 :

Bumthang Pilgrimage Tour - Day 2 | Altitude 2800m

Your Pilgrimage journey starts today. Take a half-day hike to Pelseling Goenba, a sacred monastery with a rich history located on a steep mountain. The trek takes around 3-4 hours, offering breathtaking valley views, flora, fauna, and a beautiful meadow. If time permits and you are not tired, visit Jakar Dzong. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 :

Bhutan Pilgrimage Tour - Day 3 | Altitude 2800m

Drive to Tang for a full-day excursion. Visit Kunzangdrak Goenba, an important site related to treasure discoverer Pema Lingpa, built by him in 1488. The Lhakhang is a two-hour walk above Chel in Tang Valley. Later, visit Tang Rimochen Lhakhang and Ugyencholing Palace. Return to the hotel and enjoy a hot stone bath. You can change your dollar with Bhutanese Ngultrum for offering while visiting the temples. Also check the Jambhay Lhakhang Singye Cham festival

Day 6 :

Bumthang Pilgrimage Tour - Last Day | Altitude 2800m

The last day of the Pilgrimage tour begins with visit to Tamshing Lhakhang to offer prayers for the well-being of all beings. Visit Kencho Sum Lhakhang, known as the "House of Gods." After lunch, visit Chamkhar Lhakhang, first built as the palace of Indian King Sindhu Raja before the 10th century and later rebuilt as a place of worship by Dorji Lingpa in the 14th century. This marks the end of your Bumthang pilgrimage tour.

Day 7 :

Bumthang to Punakha | Distance 213.3 km | Driving time 6 hr | Altitude 1242m

Drive towards Punakha the old capital of Bhutan. Punakha is warmer than Bumthang. Lunch will be served en route. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and rest after the long journey.

Day 8 :

Punakha to Paro | Distance 114.8 km | Driving time 3 hr | Altitude 2200m

Before heading to Paro, visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple. Continue the journey to Paro and, if time allows, visit Kyichu Lhakhang and Dungtse Lhakhang. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 9 :

Taktshang Excursion - A Must-Visit Sacred Place | Altitude 2200m

Begin the day with a visit to the famous Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery. After breakfast, drive to Satsam Chorten, followed by a two-hour horse ride to the monastery viewpoint. Hike through pine forests adorned with Spanish moss and prayer flags, stopping at Taktsang Jakhang for rest. Continue on foot to Taktsang Monastery, built in 1684 around Guru Rimpoche's meditation cave. In the evening, drive to Thimphu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 10 :

Departure from Paro
