The Royal Heritage trek is one of the unique treks that covers different Palaces Starting from Central to Western Bhutan. The trek is one of iconic and beautiful.

Overview

Royal Heritage Trek, The trail boasts of a blend of valued history, traditional mores, and royal anecdotes which date back to as early as the 1950s. The trek traces the historical route King Jigme Wangchuck, the 2^nd King of Bhutan, used when moving from his summer residence, Wangdicholing Palace in Bumthang, to his winter residence, Kuenga Rabten Palace in Trongsa. It was the first King who shifted the government seat from the old winter capitals in Punakha and Thimphu to Wangdicholing palace in Bumthang. In 1928, after the death of the first King, his successor built a new palace in Kuenga Rabten.

With its warmer, more temperate climate the valley provided a welcome relief from the harsh winters of Bumthang. The Royal Family and its entourage moved in a majestic procession with hundreds of followers and riding horses trekking over the mountains. The journey took just three days then and we are introducing this route to all our visitor to Bhutan.

Day 1 :

Land at Paro International Airport from KTM/BKK/DEL

Arrival at Paro airport. Paro airport landing is one of the most beautiful flight experience one can have while coming to Bhutan. Upon landing at Paro airport one can have beautiful photo session with mountain and villages at the background. The Bhutan Visa takes about half an hour to process. Our team will be waiting outside to receive you. On the first day if time permits we will go and see the beautifull Drugyel Dzong which was recently restored to its former glory. While returning back visit 6th century Kichu Lhakhang. Over night at Hotel.

Day 2 :

Paro Tiger Nest Temple Hike

Hike the popular Tiger Nest temple. With closure of Country for almost 3 years you can see many changes on the way to Tiger Nest temple. The routes have been repaired and there are multiple restrooms and decoration of places. The hike takes about 3 hours to reach the main temple.

In the afternoon visit Paro dzong followed by museam and cantilever bridge. Over night at Hotel.

Day 3 :

Paro to Bumthang via Domestic Flight

The flight to Bumthang from Paro to Bumthang is about 25 minutes. Enjoy the most amazing flights. Our team at Batpalathang will receive you at the airport and drive you to Hotel.

Day 4 :

Trek begins from Bumthang wangdicholing palace to Tashicholing Palace.

Our team from Tour Bhutan will be ready for the most amazing heritage trek that begins today. Wangdicholing Palace was the first palace in Bhutan that was not designed as a fortress but as the principal residence of the first king of Bhutan, King Ugyen Wangchuck.

Day 5 :

Domkar to Jamsapang(4019m)

Today we walk towards jamsapang through the pinewood forest. The trek is leisure and takes about 4 hours. The hike begins with the crossing of the Duegang chhu. The trail is mostly uphill and after climbing for about 3½ hrs you reach a

Day 6 :

Jamsapang to Bjobshisa

After early breakfast, we begin our trek. The day begins with a slight ascend towards Tungli La which is about 1hr walk away from the campsite.

Day 7 :

Bjobshisa to Kingarabten Palace

Today we reach the most amazing palace of Kuenga Rabten Palace at Trongsa.

Day 8 :

Trongsa to Paro

The drive takes about 7 hours from Trongsa to paro. Today we take you for Hotstone bath at Tshering farm house with authentic Bhutanese dish.

Day 9 :

Paro to Airport

Royal Heritage Trek ends here today. Our team from Tour Bhutan will drop you to the airport and see you off.
