Chhukha Tshechu is an annual festival of the southern Bhutan showcasing Buddhist rituals and sacred symbolic dances.The Chhukha Tshechu festival in Bhutan is held at the courtyard of Chhukha Dzong in Chhukha.It is held annually for three days as an offering to Guru Rinpoche. This event brings communities together to honor Guru Rinpoche, the revered saint who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan. The festival features colorful masked dances (Cham), traditional folk song, and cultural performances that showcase Bhutan’s rich heritage.On the third day, a large Throngdroel (Tapestry) of Guru Rinpochheis unfurled which is the highlight of the festival. The people come from far and near to get blessed with this Throngdroel.The Tshechu serves as a platform for spiritual devotion and cultural expression. Attendees seek blessings, enjoy lively social interactions, and witness unique rituals that reflect Bhutan’s deep-rooted traditions. The festival is a joyous celebration of faith, art, and community spirit.
