10 Days Bumthang Pilgrimage Tour

Discover Bhutan’s spiritual heartland, visiting significant religious sites such as Kurjey Lhakhang, Mebar Tsho (Burning Lake), and Kunzangdrak Goenba. Itinerary

Upon arrival at Paro, receive a warm welcome with a traditional white scarf from our guide and driver. After introductions, start your journey to Thimphu, stopping to visit Tachog Lhakhang, built by Drupthob Thangtong Gyalpo in 1420. In Thimphu, visit Buddha Point and the Memorial Chorten. If time allows, explore Tashichho Dzong. Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast, drive towards Bumthang via Dochula, stopping for photos at Dochula. Lunch will be served in Trongsa. Upon arrival in Bumthang, check in to your hotel and rest after the long journey.

After breakfast, drive to Mebar Tsho, located about 30 minutes from the main town, and explore the lake until afternoon. After lunch, visit Kurjey Lhakhang, the final resting place of Bhutan’s first three kings. A large tree behind the temple is believed to be a terma left by Padmasambhava. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Take a half-day hike to Pelseling Goenba, a sacred monastery with rich history located on a steep mountain. The trek takes around 3-4 hours, offering breathtaking valley views, flora, fauna, and a beautiful meadow. If time permits and you are not tired, visit Jakar Dzong. Overnight at the hotel.

Drive to Tang for a full-day excursion. Visit Kunzangdrak Goenba, an important site related to treasure discoverer Pema Lingpa, built by him in 1488. The lhakhang is a two-hour walk above Chel in Tang Valley. Later, visit Tang Rimochen Lhakhang and Ugyencholing Palace. Return to the hotel and enjoy a hot stone bath.

Drive to Tamshing Lhakhang to offer prayers for the well-being of all beings. Visit Kencho Sum Lhakhang, known as the "House of Gods." After lunch, visit Chamkhar Lhakhang, first built as the palace of Indian King Sindhu Raja before the 10th century and later rebuilt as a place of worship by Dorji Lingpa in the 14th century. This marks the end of your Bumthang pilgrimage tour.

After breakfast, drive towards Punakha. Lunch will be served en route. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and rest after the long journey.

Before heading to Paro, visit Punakha Dzong and Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple. Continue the journey to Paro and, if time allows, visit Kyichu Lhakhang and Dungtse Lhakhang. Overnight at the hotel.

Begin the day with a visit to the famous Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery. After breakfast, drive to Satsam Chorten, followed by a two-hour horse ride to the monastery viewpoint. Hike through pine forests adorned with Spanish moss and prayer flags, stopping at Taktsang Jakhang for rest. Continue on foot to Taktsang Monastery, built in 1684 around Guru Rimpoche's meditation cave. In the evening, drive to Thimphu for dinner and an overnight stay.

Drive to Paro Airport for departure and bid farewell.
