Begin your journey from Phuntsholing, the gateway to Bhutan, and drive through scenic mountain landscapes to Thimphu. En route, visit Kharbandi Gompa and enjoy the stunning views. Upon arrival in Thimphu, explore local attractions like Tashichho Dzong, Buddha Dordenma, and the bustling craft markets.
The day starts with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 to honor the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Next is Dupthop Lhakhang, a rare surviving nunnery in Bhutan. We then explore the National Library, which houses ancient Buddhist texts, and the Painting School, where traditional Thangkas (sacred scrolls) are crafted. Other key stops includes Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest fortress, built in 1627 by Shabdrung. The day ends with a visit to the Handicrafts Emporium and shopping in Thimphu. After that travel to Paro. Overnight in Paro.
Begin your adventure with a visit to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger's Nest. After breakfast, drive to Satsam Chorten, then take a two-hour horse ride to the monastery’s viewpoint. The path leads through pine forests draped in Spanish moss and adorned with prayer flags. Pause at Taktsang Jakhang (cafeteria) for refreshments before a short walk reveals the majestic monastery, perched on a cliff. Built in 1684, the main Lhakhang encircles Guru Rinpoche’s meditation cave. After lunch, visit Ta Dzong, a 17th-century watchtower turned National Museum, and Paro Rimpung Dzong. After returning to the base, drive towards Phuntsholing and overnight in Phuntsholing.
In the early morning, depart for Phuntsholing and continue the journey to Bagdogra.
