Day 1 :

Arrival at Paro Airport and Drive to Thimphu. Distance 60KM | Driving Time 1 Hour

Arrival at Paro airport. You will be received by a representative from Tour Bhutan. Our guide will receive you with white khadhar and brief you about the itinerary.

Drive to Thimphu which is about 60 km from Paro airport and takes about 1 hour. On the way visit Tamchog Lhakhang which is a privately owned temple. Relax and take a coffee break below the temple.

Lunch at the popular Bhutanese Phangoo Restaurant, and after that, visit the National Library, which holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts, followed by a visit to the Painting School, famous for carving and freehand art, and the Simply Bhutan Museum where live dance, local wine tasting, and archery experience is offered during this visit. and overnight in the Hotel.

Day 2 :

Thimphu to Tiger Nest Temple Hike at Paro. Driving Time 1 Hour | Hiking Time 4 Hours | Altitude 3120M

Early Morning drive back to Paro. On arrival, start a very special day with an excursion to view the spectacular Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) monastery. The trail climbs through a beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. We stop for a rest and light refreshments at the Taktsang Jakhang (cafeteria) and then walk a short distance until we reach Taktsang monastery. The primary Lhakhang was built around Guru Rimpoche’s meditation cave in 1684 by the Penlop of Paro, Gyaltse Tenzin Rabgay. This incredible monastery clings to the edge of a sheer rock cliff that plunges 900 meters into the valley below. Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava, the tantric mystic who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, flew here on the back of a flying tiger, Dorji Drolo, said to be his favourite consort.

After lunch, visit Ta Dzong (built in 1656 and renovated in 1968), an ancient watchtower, which now houses the National Museum. Below the museum is the Paro Rinpung Dzong (literally meaning “Heap of Jewels”, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the centre of civil and religious authority in this valley. A short walk takes you to the base of the dzong and across a traditional cantilevered, covered bridge. Visit the farmhouse for the special hot stone bath to relieve an aching body after the hike. Special time with the host. Dinner and overnight in the Hotel.

Day 3 :

Paro to Airport and See Off. Altitude 2300M.
