Arrival at Paro 2300M altitude at Airport

Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, you'll be welcomed by the serene beauty of Bhutan. After settling in, take some time to explore Paro's rich cultural heritage. Visit the historic Rinpung Dzong, an impressive fortress that offers insight into Bhutanese architecture and Buddhism. Explore the National Museum, which houses artifacts that tell the story of Bhutan’s history and culture. The rest of the day can be spent preparing for the trek, with your guide briefing you on the journey ahead. Rest well to acclimate to the altitude.

Day 2 :

Paro to Shana. Distance 15KM | Trek Distance 5-6 Hours | Altitude 2850M at Campsite

The trek begins with a drive to the trailhead at Gunitsawa Village. From here, you'll trek along the Paro Chhu (Paro River), passing through lush pine and oak forests. The trail is gentle, offering an opportunity to ease into the trek while enjoying the tranquility of nature. The journey is peaceful, with occasional sightings of local wildlife. Arriving at Sharna Zampa, you'll set up camp near the river, surrounded by serene forested landscapes.

Day 3 :

Sharna Zampa to Soi Thangthangkha. Distance 20KM | Trek Distance 8-9 Hours | Altitude at Campsite 3750M

This day involves a longer trek through dense forests, crossing several small streams and ascending gradually. As you continue, the landscape opens up to offer the first distant views of Mount Jomolhari—Bhutan’s sacred peak. The trail winds through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows, and you'll likely encounter grazing yaks along the way. The day's trek concludes at Soi Thangthangkha, where you'll set camp with a stunning backdrop of mountain peaks.

Day 4 :

Soi Thangthangkha to Jangothang Base Camp. Distance 17KM | Trek Distance 5-6 Hours | Altitude at Campsite 4080M

The trail today continues alongside the Paro River and opens into wider valleys with spectacular mountain scenery. You'll pass through small yak herder villages, offering glimpses of the traditional Bhutanese lifestyle. The final stretch takes you to the Jangothang Base Camp, located at the foot of Mt. Jomolhari. The views of the towering, snow-capped peaks are truly awe-inspiring, making this a highlight of the trek.

Day 5 :

Acclimatization Day at Jangothang

This is a rest day to help your body acclimate to the altitude. Optional short hikes are available for those seeking more adventure. You can hike to nearby ridges or glacial lakes for panoramic views of the Himalayas, including peaks like Jichu Drake and Tserim Kang. It’s also an excellent day to interact with local yak herders and learn about their unique way of life. This day ensures you're well-prepared for the higher passes ahead.

Day 6 :

Jangothang to Soi Yaksa via Bonte La Pass. Distance 16KM | Trek Distance 6-7 Hours | Altitude 3800M

Today is one of the most challenging yet rewarding days of the trek. The trail ascends to the Bonte La Pass at 4,890 meters, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding snow-clad mountains and valleys. After crossing the pass, the trail descends into the beautiful Soi Yaksa Valley, filled with vibrant meadows and scattered yak herder camps. The serene landscape and dramatic scenery make this a memorable part of the journey.

Day 7 :

Soi Yaksa to Thombu Shong. Distance 11KM | Trek Distance 5-6 Hours | Altitude at Campsite 4180M

The day begins with an ascent to the Takhung La Pass (4,520m), another high point of the trek, which offers more stunning views of the Himalayas. After enjoying the scenery, descend gradually through alpine landscapes and rhododendron forests until reaching Thombu Shong, a beautiful highland meadow ideal for camping. This spot offers a sense of peaceful isolation, perfect for reflecting on the journey.

Day 8 :

Thombu Shong to Gunitsawa Village – Drive to Paro. Distance 13KM | Trek Distance 5-6 Hours | Altitude 2400M

The final day of the trek involves a gradual descent through dense pine forests, passing remote villages and experiencing the untouched beauty of Bhutan’s countryside. Arriving at Gunitsawa Village, you'll conclude the trek and drive back to Paro. The evening is free for rest or exploring local markets for souvenirs.

Day 09 :

Hike to Tiger’s Nest (Taktsang Monastery). Distance 10KM | Hiking Time 5-6 Hours up and down | Altitude 3120M.

No trip to Bhutan is complete without hiking to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest. Perched on a cliffside 900 meters above the Paro Valley, this monastery is one of Bhutan’s most sacred sites. The hike is steep but rewarding, offering breathtaking views along the way. After exploring the monastery, return to Paro for a celebratory dinner.

What is the weather and climate condition during Soi Yaksa Trek?

Autumn Weather: During the month of September to November, Bhutan experiences autumn/fall. The average temperature ranges somewhere between 10 degrees and 23 degrees Celsius across the country. It is that time of the year when the rain starts to go away and the weather becomes bright once again giving the trekkers the best of Bhutan Himalayas.
Spring Weather: Spring comes to the country with the first days of March. The level of temperature increases sharply and it is much warmer here at the beginning of March. The average temperature during the month is about 6 °C (43 °F) during the daytime and about 0 °C (32 °F) at night. Still in the south plains of the country, the hot and wet weather stays.In mountainous areas, the cold weather will stay until the end of the spring. The average temperatures in May are about 12-16 °C (53-61 °F) during the daytime. Precipitations in form of snow still occur in the north part of Bhutan and it is rainy enough in the south side.

The best time to trek Soi Yaksa Trek is in Autumn time. Late spring is a good time if you are considering this time of the year.

How to prevent mountain sickness?

Acclimatization: It’s remarkable how well we can adapt to altitude if we give our bodies time to do so. Your heart rate and breathing will speed up, and your blood will develop higher-than-normal amounts of red blood cells. The rest of your cells slowly change too, so that they use oxygen more efficiently.
If you give yourself at least two days to reach an 8,000- to 10,000-foot elevation and then limit daily ascents to 1,000 feet, your body will have a better chance to adapt. Note, too, that it’s your sleeping altitude that’s key: You can climb higher in a given day as long as you come back down to a snoozing elevation that’s within this limit.
Everyone adapts at a different rate: You might be able to acclimatize more quickly than the above rule of thumb, or less quickly. Age, gender, race—even your level of fitness—don’t correlate conclusively with faster or slower adaptation rates. Take your time and listen to your body.

What are the tour cancellation policies?

10% deposit – refunded if canceled outside 60 days of arrival date.
90% balance – forfeited if canceled within 30 days of arrival date.
